Wish I had read ALL the reviews
| I wanted to get a 'better' set of earphones for my iPod, and came upon these. I've always preferred the 'in-ear' style to any other style, but have never paid more than $20 (pre-iPod). Although these were twice the price I'd usually paid for this style, after reading the reviews I decided to take a chance. Those who liked them, raved about the sound quality, and I figured as long as I followed the advice about how to insert them properly, I'd be good to go. So I received them in January, and after the usual 'fiddling' got mine to work, and they were great! I was able to hear things within my music that I'd never appreciated before. Then suddenly, yesterday the left ear was barely audible. I came back from my jog to read the reviews again to see if anyone reported the same problem, and there were more than a few reports of the very same problem. I'm too lazy to go through the hassle of returning them, and I'll probably buy the Sony ones that several folks recommend. But I really wish I had read ALL the reviews! My advice - don't waste your money to get an obviously defective product! | |

| After reading several negative reviews regarding these earphones, I have come to the conclusion that the purchasers that had negative comments did not take the time and insert the buds into the ear properly. I just received my Apple earphones today, took the medium buds, put them in my ear and pulled the top of the ear until they were seated and wow, awesome sound and comfort. The volume of my shuffle is at less than half up volume wise and they are staying in my ears. I'm happy with the purchase. The original earphones are fine, however they are not as comfortable and they tend to fall out easily. Also, there is a scraping sound when the earphone wire drags on your clothing, but this is due to the good ear seal and the noise-cancelling reason. I can live with that. Good buy! | |
not terrible, but not the best
| ok, i bought these from target, they costed $40. when i first put them in, i want to do a comparison, so i got out my headphone splitter. i plugged in these in one side and the factory supplied earbuds in the other. i put one ear bud of each type in each ear to see if i could tell the difference. i was really dissappointed, i couldn't tell the difference at all. i was going to return them.
but then i remembered that these aren't earbuds, they are in-ear headphones. so, i did the "lift the tip of your ear and insert method" this made all the difference. they have great highs and midrange, but not super great lows, but thats probably because the driver in them is super small. the bass is decent for me, but if you like it loud, your going to get a good amount of distortion. heres what i love about them: they look awesome, i only wanted white headphones they are super comfy 3 different ear cup sizes easy to clean sound pretty good seal out alot of sound comes with cool little case it's made by apple heres what i don't love: a little pricey hard to insert if you don't use two hands some distortion at high volume ** you hear yourself breathing when you wear them (you also will be alarmed the first few mins. when the cord hits your chest, not good for active wear) overall, i'd probably shop around a little more first, but i think i'd buy them again
